Extra Curricular Programs

Odyssey of the Mind

A competitive international program providing creative problem solving opportunities for students grades K - college. Antioch has had multiple teams the past few years. Each team has seven members trying to create a unique solution to a problem chosen by the team. The solution is completely student-driven. This program fosters critical thinking, creativity and teamwork while teaching practical skills such as budgeting and time management. Adult volunteers are needed to lead student teams for this exciting program. An informational meeting for parents will be held in September. For more information or to volunteer contact Kathy Gwinn in the Antioch Media Center.

Girls On The Run - Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The curriculum addresses all aspects of girls' development - their physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual well-being. Girls can begin participating in GOTR starting in 3rd grade. Antioch parent volunteer coaches led four teams in the 08-09 school year. We anticipate having four teams at Antioch in the upcoming school year. For more information go to www.girlsontherun.org or contact Angela Olson, one or our Antioch coaches at 704-821-8002.

After School Clubs: Starting soon, we will begin our grades 3-5 after school clubs. These clubs are: Drama, Girls Book Club, Athena's Path, Giving Gators, Boys Book Club, Chess Club, and Chorus.
